My client provides a broad spectrum of asset management products and services for institutional and private investors . It is based in the heart of the City of London

The role is within the Compliance team with specific responsibility for the Collectives - OEICS, hedge funds, property funds, multi-manager and structured products. The successful candidate will be given responsibility and a degree of autonomy to implement the monitoring programme dealing with Management in the business areas. In addition, the candidate will be given the opportunity to contribute to the wider work of the team, time permitting.

The main purpose of the role will be to ensure the existing Compliance monitoring programme is managed and delivered within agreed timescales with all issues identified and investigated to conclusion. The successful candidate will be expected to produce reports that are technically sound, well written and delivered on time. The candidate will have experience of working within a financial services monitoring role, extensive knowledge of relevant regulation and a proven ability to maintain effective working relationships. The role will be to work closely with the Compliance Officer responsible for the Collectives business in developing the existing monitoring programme which focuses on the key risk areas.

Principal Duties

Compliance Monitoring
Carry out risk based testing in relation to the annual monitoring covering collective investment schemes (regulated and unregulated) under the direction of the Compliance Officer;
Review and revise monitoring programme and task worksheets as necessary;
Prepare draft reports on a timely basis providing an executive summary and setting out the findings of fieldwork.
Present finding and discuss with the Compliance Officer prior to distribution
Finalise reports for review and presentation to senior management;
Prepare and updating of the tracking schedule of recommendations and ensure that the business has taken required action within stated deadlines.

Anti-Money Laundering Reviews
Monitor internal AML procedures and those of outsourced providers, and discuss any findings and/or recommendations with the MLRO/Compliance Officers;
Conduct monitoring visits, as required, to operations in the UK (including outsourced suppliers) and in Ireland to ensure ongoing effectiveness of their procedures (a small amount of travel and overnight stays will be involved)

Essential Skills & Experience
Experience of compliance including monitoring or internal audit roles, preferably gained within a funds / collectives retail financial environment.
Good working knowledge of the FSA rules and, in particular, the ML regulations.
Good inter personal skills with the ability to act at all levels in an organization.
Ability to work without direct supervision and to set deadlines
Good report writing skills (with an emphasis on compliance/audit style presentation

IT Skills Required
Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a very experienced Compliance Officer across a range of core businesses and to gain further knowledge - it is not expected that the candidate will have all the relevant experience on day one. For the right candidate, this will be a chance to take responsibility and apply some of the knowledge gained in previous employment.
