Fixed Income Product Controller - Canary Wharf


The duties of a Fixed Income Product Controller role:
-Preparation of the daily p&l production and analysis, including front to back reconciliation and trade checking procedures for the structured notes business
-Posting and reviewing the month end p&l within in the general ledger for structured notes
-Providing additional analysis to the business unit and senior management such as commentaries over daily and longer reporting periods
-Daily and monthly reconciliation and analysis of the P&L in the Treasury Structured Notes Issuance books
-Liaising with other groups such as research and IT to streamline current processes and produce work flow efficiencies
-System development projects
-Other ad hoc duties

Commercial / Business orientation:
-This Fixed Income Product Controller role includes some of the most complex coupons and other arrangements within FID
-Close control of the structured notes desk is maintained given the inherent valuation and accounting risks of the business
-Fully responsible for the rapidly changing structured notes desk and then over time will add additional tasks
-Will rotate around the other interest rate books
-Risk awareness and the ability to challenge items that seem irregular are an essential part of the role
- Providing timely, accurate and professional responses in a deadline driven role is one of the main focuses of the group

Functional knowledge:
-Ability to pick up the role quickly is essential
-A general understanding of Fixed Income products would be essential as most product structures are non-vanilla
-Good general system knowledge is required
-Good excel skills are necessary
-Mathematical background would preferential

Professional skills:
-Professional approach required due to the close working relationship within the group and business
-Should be confident and able to provide a professional front
-Pro-active in solving ad hoc requests/issues from business units
-Ability to manage own workload and carry out task without manager guidance
-Ability to manage time effectively
-Ability to work in a team environment is essential
Strong leadership and guardianship skills
