• VP Head of Accounting Policy - London

Our client is a well known global investment bank with a requirement for an enthusiastic VP Head of Accounting Policy to lead the Accounting Policy function in the Europe and Middle East region. Our client maintains leadership positions in equity and fixed income sales, trading and research, investment banking, private investment management, asset management and private equity. The Firm is headquartered in New York, with regional headquarters in London and Tokyo, and operates in a network of offices around the world.

The key responsibilities will include:
- Work with businesses and Finance colleagues to address accounting issues as structures/ transactions are developed.
- Review/analyze transactions with Special Purpose Entities to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
- Provide accounting expertise on IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Perform monthly reviews of standard securitization and assess accounting treatment of non-standard transactions in accordance with SOX control procedures.
- Prepare "Policy Alert" email on recently issued accounting rules (both US GAAP and IFRS).
- Prepare and conduct teach-ins for front office and Finance colleagues on recently issued US GAAP and IFRS accounting rules.
- Write comment letters to FASB and other regulatory bodies discussing Lehman's position on proposed accounting rules.
- Provide accounting expertise on US GAAP for complex capital markets transactions FIN 46(R), FAS 133, FAS 140, FAS 157, FAS 159, etc.

The ideal candidate should have professional accountancy qualification (CPA, ACA or equivalent) with extensive knowledge understanding and exposure to US GAAP and IFRS in an investment banking environment either gained from working in the industry or interaction with the industry whilst in practice.
