Deputy Compliance Officer - Innovative Global Hedge Fund
- City of London £70,000 - £71,000 p/a Permanent
Our client is a leading global hedge fund
The key objectives are:
To undertake compliance monitoring of business functions to ensure compliance with both regulations and internal controls; Daily and ad hoc tasks include approval of PA trades, gift and entertainment log, approved person register and the Restricted List.
Assist with day-to-day compliance issues arising from trading activities including issues associated with the opening of new brokerage accounts and local markets.
Assist the Compliance Officer to ensure that firm is meeting its requirements under the FSA regulations.
Monitor and where necessary arrange compliance with exchange reporting requirements
Assist in the maintenance of restricted securities listings.
To co-ordinate FSA approved persons applications and other submissions under the registration regime
To be cognisant of FSA regulatory projects such as MiFID and ICAAP.
Liaise with external counsel and regulatory bodies as and when requested.
Support the Compliance Officer when considering structural and regulatory issues as the firm grows.
Ensure the compliance manual is up to date and the changes in regulations are considered and communicated.
Co-ordinate securing KYC documents for new clients (i.e. new Funds)
Perform quarterly reviews of client files to ensure files and the client identification documents are valid and up to date in line with applicable Money Laundering Regulation.
Contribute to the groups efforts to be aware and briefed on any European regulatory issues that may affect the business as a whole.
Assist with compliance with all Anti Money Laundering Issues including policy, procedure, training and reporting in conjunction with the MLRO.
Assist Finance Department to submit FSA regulatory returns.
Ensure all personnel, including new hires, have attained and maintain the requisite skills for their job function and keep abreast of available training courses.
Job Requirements:
The appointee will be a compliance professional who will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Strong analytical ability.
A flexible approach.
Proven compliance competence
Thorough understanding of the FSA Handbook required
Solid understanding of the requirements of compliance monitoring essential
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with individuals at all levels, both within the firm and externally including regulatory bodies and external counsel.
Ability to multi-task and adequately prioritise workflow. He or she must be able to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Business exposure within asset management and knowledge of alternative investments such as hedge funds preferred together with the appropriate UK regulatory requirements for asset management activities.
Preferably Degree educated or equivalent
