Compliance Manager
- City of London £52 - £58 p/a Contract
- Benefits: pro-rata
One of the oldest and most respected names in the financial community, an independent asset management business, is seeking a compliance manager with extensive and previous Fund Advice experience to provide regulatory advice, guidance and technical support to staff in relation to strategic developments in their hedge and mutual funds business and Institutional & Charities client areas together with oversight of compliance monitoring in accordance with requirements.
You will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to the business on mutual fund compliance issues arising from strategic developments (e.g. systems and product development and the set up of new outsourcing arrangements), day-to-day enquires and monitoring, liaising with trustees, administrators, regulators and other third parties, advising the business on matters arising, provide advice and guidance to fund managers and dealers and the Institutional and Charities client areas.
Ensure that monitoring is undertaken in accordance with the agreed programme (likely to cover mutual funds management, administration, dealing, changes to scheme particulars and key features, funds registration, amalgamation, transfer, financial promotions). Ensure that any adverse findings are dealt with promptly and satisfactorily by relevant staff within the business.
You will also assist with the set-up of new authorised and recognised sub-funds of OEICs (updating prospectuses, co-ordinating with legal advisers to update instruments of incorporation or memorandum and articles of association, communicating with regulators, applying for licences where necessary (or updating existing licences), appointing local custodians, etc). Complete due diligence checks as appropriate.
Ensure that compliance procedures/manuals and controls are adequately defined to enable staff to conduct their business within the applicable regulatory requirements. Report all "material" breaches or potential breaches of applicable regulatory requirements of which he/she is aware. Provide written reports to the business covering regulatory issues and results of monitoring checks undertaken. Review of Third Party Administrators, by undertaking reviews of the administrator for PEP and ISA products. Sign-off advertisements/financial promotions for marketing.
Proactively keep up-to-date with industry developments and changes to business practices and products affecting onshore and offshore funds to ensure that procedures and controls remain adequate or are modified appropriately.
The ideal candidate will have both Onshore and Offshore mutual funds management and administration exposure, detailed FSA regulatory knowledge, and solid hedge fun knowledge.
