Middle Office Controller - Docklands

A position has become available for a middle office controller within an eminent international investment bank.
The candidate will be responsible for understanding and controlling the exotic interest rate derivatives OTC trading businesses, to the extent that the trades are captured in a trade entry system. The role is to validate on a t+1 basis that the correct economics of the trade have been captured in the front office trade entry system and that these have been faithfully replicated in the back office.
The exotics middle office controller will be responsible for the following activities:
- reviewing and clearing automated reconciliations.
- for volume exotics not covered by an automated FOBO rec, review on a t+1 basis front office booking against terms and conditions and ensure that has then been accurately captured in back office systems. This check will ensure that all economic events are correctly captured and life cycle events - like coupon flows and call schedules have been correctly captured.
- where possible seek to streamline and automate process as far as possible.
- work closely with other departments such as trader ops and product control to ensure that all breaks are fully understood and are cleared as soon as possible. In addition any impacts for downstream users should be communicated clearly.
- ensure trade rebookings onto strategic architecture are fully controlled and the trades are migrated in as efficient way possible. Any resultant reconciliation work should be performed on a timely basis.
- take ownership of any issues that arise and follow through to resolution in an efficient and timely manner
- liaise with front office and other internal clients to initiate/further process developments and other ad hoc queries.
This role is a high profile position responsible for the accuracy of some of the most complex exotics calculations and large resulting cashflow
The candidate will need the ability to multi-task, have a strong analytical skills and have working knowledge within structured derivatives. Also strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as a high level of accuracy and attention to detail are required
