A physical commodity operations associate is required for a leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm that provides a wide range of services worldwide to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, governments and high net-worth individuals.

The London-based physical operations team are responsible for managing all physical aspects of the European power, gas and emissions commodity business. In addition to its core physical scheduling role the team also manages some prompt trading activities and coordinates projects to facilitate access to new markets and products.

As a member of the physical operations team, the successful applicant will be expected to gain a broad knowledge of all our markets and eventually to take responsibility for developing the business as we enter new markets and trade new products.

Responsibilities will be nominating European gas and power positions to relevant market/system operators. You will ensure counterparty and operator submitted data reflects the firm's trading positions.

The ideal candidate can work well under pressure and meet deadlines, with the ability to learn quickly in a fast moving environment. Strong technical and analytical skills are required and you will be self-motivated to manage projects and seek opportunities to enhance business benefit.
