Senior Finance jobs
Despite the constant stream of doom and gloom surrounding financial markets in London, the jobs market for finance professionals remains healthy.
Whilst demand is down when compared to the rapid growth in headcount over the last 3 years, the majority of job losses have been incurred either in front office or those functions that are not deemed sufficiently value-add. So demand remains strong for finance professionals with a mix of accounting, control and MI experience relating to investment banking.
We're working on senior finance jobs in four key areas:
1. Business Unit Control Jobs
These accountancy jobs either sit in middle office or finance and focus upon a wide range of control issues targeted to a specific line of business. Greatest demand is for those individuals with knowledge of exotics, hybrids and structured products. In some cases, P&L production of the daily P&L is conducted in a different location/department, freeing up vital time for the controller to focus upon more value-add and analytical activity, understanding and communicating risks to traders, verifying prices and applying accounting treatments.

2. Finance Business Partnering Jobs
Similar to business unit control in as much as it is facing the front office, but given the focus is far broader and less daily, it typically covers a group of business lines or an entire division e.g. monthly and quarterly P&L analysis, forecasting & budgeting and providing a management information pack for executive management.

3. Financial Control Jobs
Technical accounting skills coupled with knowledge of derivatives is still a critical skill for institutions and currently in high demand in the market. Clients are requiring individuals to display strong problem solving skills as well as facing off to the business to provide information and commentary that will directly influence the decision-making process.

4. Internal Audit Jobs
The role of an internal auditor is still vital to Institutions, you will be on the front line carrying out audits for specific functions/businesses . This area gives you the opportunity to work with a diverse range of internal contacts sometimes in European and global locations. There is a high demand for experienced individuals to be involved in improving and streamlining operations and acting as a key advisor to departments. Internal auditors are seen more than ever as a business advisor, maintaining objectivity and providing analysis and recommendations to senior management.

These departments have never suffered from being over-staffed, in fact probably the opposite. So now is as good a time as any and presents minimal risk for those who feel they need to move to progress their career a step forward. These roles, especially business unit control, are available in investment banks as well as hedge fund and alternative investment managers.
