Our Community Work
We believe Joslin Rowe can play a vital role in developing the workforce of the future by raising the aspirations of young people on the City fringes and promoting jobs in financial services to a wider, more diverse audience.
Educational schemes
For the last four years our staff have volunteered their time to mentor groups of teenagers throughout their vital GCSE year at an inner-city school in Camden. Feedback has shown that the girls have benefited enormously with growing confidence and improving grades. There have been some real success stories, with girls striving for new goals and ambitions including University. We also work closely with a number of other schools running CV workshops, interview training and even hosting fashion shows to advise students on what to wear in the workplace.
Recently we launched our interactive DVD quiz on "Working in the City" to 240 year 10 students at Elizabeth Garrett Anderson college in Islington.
Work Experience
We offer yearly internships via The Brokerage, an innovative partnership which gives inner city students an insight into the working environment and expectations of employers via ten week traineeships. We were thrilled when our internship programme in 2004 was judged to have provided one of the best career experiences to date. The Brokerage subsequently named us Employer of the Year and in 2007 our intern, Angela Moses, won Intern of the Year.
A Wide Influence
Our commitment to the community also spans a wide variety of charities - both in terms of donating funds and time.
- Every member of staff is given a day off to work on a community project from improving the homes of vulnerable children to supporting failing schools or drop in centres.
- Our staff make a donation every month via their salary, raising thousands of pounds through their pay cheques, as well as sporting events and sponsorships.
- We additionally support the Headway Association, a small charity that has come to mean a great deal to our company. Each year we host an annual awards evening in honour of Fraser Keir, our much missed colleague, with donations on the night helping to support Headway's research into brain injuries.

Through the knowledge we have gained during our long-running community programmes we also mentor businesses new to CSR and are proud to be part of the Heart of the City programme which encourages greater involvement amongst City businesses.
