Swiss Re Life & Health is a specialist global division of Swiss Re. The division delivers specific risk management solutions to more than 2,500 clients – life and health insurers worldwide – across a wide spectrum of products including life, critical illness, disability income, and long-term care. The UK operating company is an important part of the Life & Health business, with a major share of the UK and Irish Life and Health reinsurance market.

Life insurance has been an area of significant expansion over the last 20 years. As well as offering traditional risk management services to our clients, we have recently extended our service by helping clients to free capital tied up in products or companies in run-off. We call this "administrative reinsurance" or Admin Re. This is a fast-growing business line and is just one of the ways in which Swiss Re Life & Health has adapted its capabilities to meet new market needs.
