If you're from an EU country you can work in the UK without a visa.

If you're from outside the EU and wish to work in the UK then you will require a visa. We are unable to assist job seekers from outside the EU unless you have a visa.

There are a number of different visa options and we would advise you to research the latest UK Visa Information for details and the specific criteria which must be fulfilled. The most popular options are:

Working Holiday Visa
Where a person aged between 17 and 30, currently living in a commonwealth country can come to the UK for an extended holiday of up to 2 years and work for up to 12 months of this time if they meet certain criteria. You must have this visa in place before you come to the UK.

Ancestry Visa
If you have UK parents or grandparents, this entitles you to a longer, less restricted stay of 4 years, and it can enable you to apply for residency.

HSMP Visas & The Points Based System: Tier 1 (General) highly skilled workers
Both these visas operate on a points system - where eligibility is determined by criteria such as your qualifications, previous earnings and age etc.

During 2008, the HSMP visa will be phased out and the PBS phased in. It's very important that you research the UK Visa Information for the very latest information.

Fresh Talent
This visa is specifically for job seekers outside the European Economic Area who have completed their studies in a Scottish university whilst living in Scotland and now wish to work in Scotland. It has a 2 year shelf life, is limited to Scotland, but it may be possible to switch to another visa category at the end of this time.
